About Frank Herbert

Frank Herbert (1920–1986) was an American science fiction author best known for his novel Dune and its five sequels. Dune is the best-selling science fiction novel of all time, and the entire series is considered to be among the classics of the genre. Herbert was a journalist and photographer before becoming a full-time writer. He was fascinated by ecology and philosophy, interests that deeply influenced his fiction. Dune won the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel and shared the Hugo Award in 1966. Herbert's influence on science fiction continues to this day through the ongoing Dune film adaptations and continuing novel series.
